When you’re a dog person, hell, when you’re an animal person, you can’t possibly understand how some people can treat their own pets like garbage, abandon them, sometimes even leaving them to die.
While there’re some bad people in the world, thank God we have been blessed with good hearted folks like Richard Phibbs, who is a fashion and portrait photographer that dedicated his time and services to Humane Society of New York, trying to help some poor pups to get a second chance in life.
Phibbs has shot fashion and advertising campaigns for famous brands like Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, and Calvin Klein and his prints have been collected by people like Anderson Cooper, Francis Ford Coppola, and Bill Clinton.
Nobody expects someone with a CV like that to have time for some random abandoned pups, but sometimes, people can surprise you, and it kinda restores your faith in humanity.
His best photographs are even featured in a new publication “Rescue Me” (Aperture, 2016), which also contains the story of each dog, the circumstances in which they ended up on the street, until the moment they finally found their “forever home”.
Even though, after you’ll have a look at his work, it won’t be hard to imagine how much these cute, amazing and loving creatures that we definitely do not deserve, suffered before ending up in loving arms.
